Pinching, squeezing, twisting, pulling, tearing and cutting...we've been busy strengthening the muscles in our hands. A quick 5 minute activity at home could be to rip up the junk mail or to squeeze and scrunch an old newspaper.
We are working on two colour patterns in maths. We have been building towers with cubes and trying the peg boards and also colouring patterns in pictures. We have built towers in partners and some of the tables even decided to do a whole team build.
We have a resource team coming into our class 3 days a week and we are working on a variety of skills with the children. Later in the year, the team will be concentrating on reading, during 2 of those sessions each week. For now, we have been learning how to play different games, practicing taking turns and doing lots of tearing and sticking and scissors work.
As you may have heard, there was the first "Star of the Week" on Friday. This is an award that gets announced by Ms Martin, for each class in the school, on Fridays. It can be a little tough on Junior Infants and waiting for their turn (and they will all get one, don't worry) can be very difficult. All of the children have been fantastic and it really could have been any of them, they were all stars! So we are working on being happy for the star of the week and being patient until it is our turn. :)
Finally, here are some pictures of the children at work and play from the last few weeks.
