On Friday, there was some strange sounds around the school, jingling bells and a flash of red around the corner! We couldn't believe it....Santa was in Scoil Carmel! The room was filled with squeals and there was lots of enthusiasm for showing Santa where CoCo, our elf, was hiding. We sang a song for Santa from our Christmas show and he LOVED he. He was dancing around our room. Santa gave all the children a present and gave the whole class lots of book, which was are looking forward to reading! :)
We had lots of brave children getting their vaccinations this week. Some were very excited about it, one child was even hoping to be an injection nurse when he grows up. There were, of course, some nerves but overall the children were just brilliant and we had lots of fun cuddling our teddies during injections and playing with them in the afternoon when they were all tired. In maths, we are looking at shape at the moment and pattern. We are working on 3 colour pattern and a repeating colour pattern (e.g. blue blue yellow, blue blue yellow...) There is a lovely simple game of "String of Beads" down at the end of this link. http://www.crickweb.co.uk/Early-Years.html Some of the children really understand pattern very well. This is an online game that investigates some quite tricky patterns. http://www.abcya.com/patterns.htm Here we are, hard at work/play doing our morning activities over the last few weeks. We are trying to extend our fine motor skills into lacing now. It is quite tricky and needs lots of focus and attention. Keep it going at home and if you have no lacing activities just ask on a Friday if you can borrow some for the weekend. :) We also had great fun playing mammies and daddies and also doctors with the babies. Good thing there are such good role models at home to immitate! |
