We are working hard with our Jolly Phonics sounds. We have just started on Group 4 now. Here is a clip of Group 3 songs, so you can keep practicing at home. Games like "I Spy," "Spot the Sound" (look for different sounds on road and shop signs) and "Fast Finger" (find the sound/sight word on a page) are great for reinforcing sounds.
We were very excited to do an investigation in science. We tested different materials to see if they were hard or soft. We checked to see if we could bend the items or if they stayed stiff. We also tapped them on the table and noticed that the hard things made a much louder noise than the soft things.
| We have been doing lots of work on opposites in maths. Using different resources, we have measured long and short; tall and small; and wide and narrow. We also had lots of fun making opposites shapes with our bodies. We decided that our doorways were wide because we were able to fit 5 people into 1! |
We are lucky to have lots of resource teachers visiting our classroom each week. On Mondays and Wednesdays they help us out with our reading and on Fridays we have just begun to introduce station teaching. This is where the groups move around the tables and spend time with each different teacher doing different activities. This week we focussed on opposite games. Last week, we had 3 literacy stations and 1 fine motor skills station. Have a look at us hard at work.
