We had a very busy week in school. On Tuesday, Ms Donoghue came in to meet the class. She will be back again next week and will then be in with us for four weeks. We really enjoyed getting to meet her. We were also visited by the Catholic Diocesan advisors on Tuesday. They taught a lesson and the children said a few prayers and sang a song for her.
The absolute highlight of our week was Wednesday - Grandparents' Day. The classroom buzzed with anticipation all morning and they haven't stopped talking about it since. We had an amazing turnout of grandparents, a lot more than expected. They were fantastic visitors and made sure to include the other children who were unable to to have their grandparents with them.
We have been writing writing writing! Although we have only properly covered the letters i r n m h, lots of the children are so eager to write, they have been practicing the other letters that they already know also. Some children use the letter line to copy the letters from and others are copying words from around the room, especially the word families.
We were working on learning stations twice this week, without the resource teachers. The children love doing stations and we get a lot more work achieved. With practice, we will be able to move on to more difficult tasks and work with more independence.
In PE we are continuing with the gymnastics strand. We practiced different ways of moving on the benches, going backwards, sliding and pulling ourselves. We read the books "Aliens Love Underpants" and "Monsters Love Underpants," which we all loved. We practiced different alien voices and we guessed what the aliens were saying in different pictures. On Friday, as a conclusion to Catholic Schools Week, we had a prayer service with three other classes. We sang a song for them and listened to their beautiful singing and prayers. We loved being in the hall with them. It was our very first assembly.
