Thank you for signing up for Parent Teacher Meetings so quickly. There are a few slots still free, so if you haven't had a chance to sign up yet please do so as soon as possible. I will assign the remaining free slots next week.
Grandparents' Day will be on Wednesday 1st of February. If you have any grandparents able to come on that day, please let me know as I would like to plan activities accordingly.
There was no Star of the Week this week as Ms Martin was at a conference on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully it will be announced on Monday. We had lots of little stars in our class this week anyway. :)
We have been working hard on our handwriting this week. We have now written i, r, n, 1, 2, and 3. Keep practicing at home and remind the children to start at the top. For alternative writing, they could practice using their finger in sand, a plate of flour, the bubbles in the bath, chalk on the ground etc.

We are working on our blends a lot. After reviewing our letter sounds, we look at the word and sound out each letter - rolling the sounds into each other so that there are no gaps between letters. It makes working the word out much easier. Have a look at the first few minutes of this clip (aimed at adults) which explains it.
Here are Sebastian and Alex practicing with the CVC (consonant - vowel - consonant) words during morning activity time.
We had so much fun "hot seating" the big bad wolf from the story of The Three Pigs. The children asked lots of questions and found it hilarious. Have a look at a couple of them.
The children had great fun playing with the puppets this week in morning activities. There were many amazing stories created using the puppets. We played rhyming games also. Here are a few photos from the week. You can see us doing mindfulness for the first time, this week.
