Welcome back to the final term of Junior Infants! It is hard to believe there are only two months left. We have lots planned for the summer term.
We celebrated Active Week last week. It was a lot of fun and definitely tiring at times. We did 10 minutes of activity every day at 10 (10 at 10) and extra dancing or exercises during the day.

We went for a lovely walk down by the Dodder River and saw the weir. We looked out for the changes in nature and saw lots of interesting things; an island, lots of birds and dogs, a fish and lots of trees and plants. After 50 minutes walking, there were lots of tired legs getting back to school.
We had some outside teachers come in for extra classes. We did a Yoga class where we learned some different poses. We loved Playball, we played lots of different games and did an obstacle course.
In maths, we were investigating weight. We made predictions about what we thought was heavier and lighter and then tested it using balance weighing scales. One surprising thing we learned was that the bigger item is not always heavier.
We worked really hard this week on our blending and writing. Some children found it was hard to do it after the break. We practiced writing on whiteboards, paper and on each others' backs. We have been working on writing our own names using lower case letters for all but the first letter. Please keep up the practice at home. We have been sounding out different words, getting ready for writing them and practicing our blending. Have a look at our work in the pictures.
