Next week, we will be bringing home the book "Wow" for homework. It is to be kept for the whole week. This book revises over all of the sight words you did at home from the 'Big Box' series. The children will also be bringing home the first 10 Jolly Phonics Tricky Words. We have been practicing them in school and most people have learnt them now. If you could please check your child on the word strip first and if they know all of the words they can cut them out and practice them in random order.
After a week of writing practice, we wrote our very first 'Our News' on Friday! It took us a while but we will be doing lots of writing work up until the end of the year and it will really speed up. We have our writing names sheets up outside the door, which the children were really proud of. We were also writing on the whiteboards as a morning activity.

During our morning activities we were back to the Style Trays again. We have moved on to the harder books now. We were working on sight words on the 'dabbing' station (the name absolutely sold it to them) and we revised our 2D shapes using playdough. We had some great life saving going on in the hospital station.
We were busy at work with addition. We used the 5 frames and counters to tell the story of 5, as well as our story sets and we played 'What's That Number' on the number line. The children were also identifying the numbers before and after the missing number and some managed an extra challenge of 2 more than/less than the missing number.
As the sun was shining, we took the opportunity to have a picnic in the yard one day and on another, we went out to the story telling area. There was a lot of excitement to take the tennis rackets out and show off our skills during PE.
Finally, here is our Rocai Rua gang.
